Es Balagan is a Mediterranean deli, café, bar and gathering place in Antwerp.
A place built around the table. For quick lunches that turn into long afternoons. For coffee, hummus and warm pita. For wine, shared plates and evenings that were never really planned.
Our soul is Levantine. Our way of living is Mediterranean. From Tel Aviv to Ibiza. Sun on your face. Food in the middle. People around the table. Music getting louder as the day goes on.
DELI BY DAY. BALAGAN BY NIGHT.
We like days without too much of a plan. Drop in for coffee. Grab something from the deli. Meet over lunch. Stay for another glass. Order a few more plates.
And before you know it, the music gets louder and lunch becomes dinner. No rush. No rules about when to leave the table. Just good food, good people and a little beautiful chaos.

LEVANTINE LOVE
Our kitchen starts in the Levant and travels around the Mediterranean. Hummus and labneh. Warm pita. Vegetables touched by fire. Seafood, crudo and things from the grill. Good olive oil, acidity, spice and lots of fresh herbs. Food with sunshine in it. Generous. Colourful. A little messy. Always made to share.
Because for us, Levantine food has never just been about what’s on the plate. It’s about putting everything in the middle. Tearing bread. Sharing. Talking. Passing another plate.
